Band
Formed in 2000, founder members Pete Boyd & Tim Clark have quietly been building up a sound that can only described as epic. A series of demos caught the attention of the UK Underground scene with the sort of impressive 'everything including the kitchen sync' attitude that lends them their unique style. Forthcoming album [sic] shows their mastery of songwriting and ability to fuse guitars and electronica - nearly every track could in the hands of a band less given to wandering off the beaten track be either purely traditional guitar based or a classic piece of synthpop. The genius of faetal is they straddle both with an effortless panache. Theres no notion whatsoever of either the rock or electronic element being tacked on. Instead, theres simply seamless electronic indie rock. Think New Order, think Cure, if you`re feeling like admitting to a broader taste than most, think Pink Floyd. Think Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler joining Mesh with production by Trent Reznor. With lastest addition Dave Challis on Bass, faetal's live shows are rapidly gaining acclaim in the alternative gig circuit.
faetal are not a concept and do not have a mission statement. We are just three people who are slave to our muse.
Current
Pete Boyd
Born in 1979 to two parents: a man and a lady, Pete forms the core of the band's sound by taking care of track conception, arrangement and production of the synthetic elements. Pete also handles the vocal performance and lyric construction, with occasional guitar duties. Political, philosophical and passionate, Pete fluctuates between ideological sonic tantrums and musical celebrations of sensuality.
Tim Clark
Born 1976 a bona fide human mammal, Tim provides the bulk of the guitar work that goes into the completed tracks. A staunch disciple of diversity, Tim effortlessly weaves in his unique textures, re-inventing the electronica spewed out by Pete and creating entire swathes of music that become wholly irreplacable. Enigmatic, inventive and indispensable.
Alumni
Dave Challis
Born 1979 a flailing mass of limbs and appendages, Dave Challis feeds the undulating lower frequencies of the faetal live sound. A hypnotic blend of motifs ranging from the melodic to grinding emit from Dave's wooden beast as he moves with stoic nonchalance amid the dancing lights of the stage.
